Carbon Emissions ECX EUA – ICE Facts

The Carbon Emissions ECX EUA – ICE is mannaged by the European Climate Exchang (ECX). The trading of carbon futures began in 2005 after the United Nations created a policy called the Kyoto Protocol which aimed to reduce the amount of global carbon emissions. While the policy had some impact on carbon emissions, it is unclear if it was effective.

Carbon futures work by purchasing credits which enable companies to produce a specific amount of carbon dioxide. The goal of carbon credits are to slowly reduce global carbon emissions.
